#37: Learning In Public Web 2.0 --> 3.0

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

Remember when Steve Jobs launched the iPhone and everything became all about Mobile overnight and for the next 10 years?

Seems like we're on the cusp of Web 3.0 which has been described as analogous to that moment in time.

Here's some stuff I’m learning + would love to learn more about:

  1. Web 1.0 vs 2.0

    1. Web 1.0 were static websites that people rarely interacted with as they were essentially digital brochures.

    2. Web 2.0 was all about an interactive and social web that helped bring people together by digitizing their social / business graph etc.

    3. Web 3.0 is early and will take 5-10+ years to unfold.

  2. Cryptography vs Cryptocurrency vs. Cryptonetworks

    1. Cryptography is the mathematical and computational practice of encoding and decoding data.

    2. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency (i.e. Bitcoin) secured by Cryptography which makes it virtually impossible to counterfeit or double-spend. Cryptonetworks are decentralized networks based on Blockchain technology.

  3. Ethereum

    1. Ethereum is a blockchain-based, open public network platform that enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications for use by businesses as well as individual users.

  4. Cryptonetworks Are Where It's At

    1. Cryptonetworks are a technology with the potential to catalyze trust between people that otherwise might not ever have known each other and therefore enable cooperation at an unprecedented scale.

  5. Web 3.0...Here. We. Go.

    1. “When you look back on every decade in tech, there’s one thing that really dominated. And I think this will be the one in this next decade,” he added. “If you’re somebody who’s thinking about where to start a company, I think you should really take a hard look at this space. Because we’re not only changing the platform on what you build, but we’re changing what you can build. It’s a new kind of platform.” - Chris Dixon @cdixon ("Rebooting the Internet" 7/8/20)
