#11: 5 Reasons I ❤️ Twitter

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

This essay is me selling you hard on Twitter.

The role it plays, the value it generates, personally and professionally is something else.

Here's what I mean.

  1. Twitter is a powerful magnet

    1. Your website is what you do.

    2. Linkedin is what you've done, who you know + what you're doing.

    3. Twitter is how you think.

    4. Building relationships through the exchange of insights + ideas via Twitter is next level.

  2. Reading the news 2-3 days in advance

    1. Whatever you're into, you can stand up a Twitter list of people who are "the world's finest..." (insert topic) and understand how they think, what they're focused on, what they think is interesting, interact with them etc.

    2. It's incredible.

  3. Create your own luck

    1. Start writing about your business, interests, "building in public" etc and you will start building community around insights + ideas that can turn into something pretty special.

    2. I've been overwhelmed by the speed with which I'm building relationships with like-minded leaders in the Sports Industry which has translated to a weekly Clubhouse room 7pm on Wednesdays (tonight).

    3. If you're into the "Sports Industry: Getting In, Getting Ahead + Giving Back" and want to have maximum impact, join us?

  4. "Brain food"

    1. The more intentional you are with who you follow, the content you engage with, share etc, the more valuable the insights + ideas that become part of your feed, experience etc.

    2. It gets better and better and better.

    3. Opens you up to all sorts of other high value content.

    4. Shoutout to Farnam Street + Shane Parrish for the "Brain Food" reference.

  5. "If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter."

    1. The constraints of Twitter make for improved writing as every word really counts.
